Bloodroot Herb Shop (Ypsilanti)
Alexandra Crofoot is a clinical herbalist, former co-owner of Black Locust Gardens herb farm, educator, single mom, and the founder of Bloodroot Apothecary.
Her shop, Bloodroot, was born out of a personal need for reconnection: to her body, to community, and to something deeper within her. She came to herbalism through her own wounds, grief, burnout, chronic stress, and the feeling that there were other ways humans can approach health.
Alex’s work is deeply relational. Alex takes time to show up for others, whether it’s crafting formulas to ease anxiety, running a donation-based clinic, or organizing herbal care for unhoused folks at the warming center, Alex believes that Bloodroot is a place where healing is both personal and collective.
Alex supports those in transition, new parents, queer folks, those recovering from trauma, seekers of truth, caretakers, and anyone wanting to reclaim themselves again. She believes that conventional medicine and herbalism can work side by side, complimenting one another in harmony, ensuring holistic care for her clients. Alex’s mission is to not only offer herbal remedies, but to build a space where people feel seen, heard, held, and empowered to remember the medicine they already carry.

Six Feet Over (Non-Profit in Metro-Detroit)
Six Feet Over, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and education to those affected by suicide loss as well as providing suicide prevention outreach to individuals and communities. Their mission is rooted in reducing the stigma surrounding suicide through open conversation, community outreach, and advocacy. Whether they’re speaking at an event or hosting a table, their team is committed to creating safe and informed spaces where people can access help, share their stories, and find hope.
Six Feet Over’s program, Lemon Aid, offers financial and emotional support as well as resources. Financial support, which may include complete funeral services, cremation, grave markings and urns, obituaries, and death certificate copies, and various other after-death costs. Six Feet Over offers emotional support through a Lemon Aid Client Advocate who offers conversations, guidance, and a space to express emotions. Finally, Lemon Aid recognizes that suicide loss survivors often need more than emotional support; they may also need housing, insurance, job training, and childcare, among many other possible needs. Our Client Advocates work with applicants to connect them with resources that aim to build stability and growth beyond the immediate crisis.
In addition to the Lemon Aid program, Six Feet Over has an additional program called Suck It! Suicide (SIS), which functions as the outreach program of Six Feet Over. This program offers the bulk of the fundraising for Six Feet Over through merchandise sales and in person donations. SIS specializes in community outreach, doing so in unconventional ways and places, listening to people’s stories, answering questions, providing practical advice and possible resources and direction.
If you are interested in learning more about Six Feet Over or would like to support the organization, consider checking out their website – Six Feet Over – and getting involved by volunteering, buying merchandise, or volunteering at one of their many events in Michigan and Kansas!
